Introduction
This course dives into the nature of consciousness. What is the self? How might we connect with, and care for our whole selves? Are you searching for a bit of magic? A healthy movement practice that exercises the body and spirit? A deeper understanding of some of life's most sought-after questions?
I am a graduate of the Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA where I studied Consciousness and sustainable living. I have spent the 15 years since college raising organic vegetables, fruit trees, and caring for abandoned farm animals who have landed at our homestead. This life, for me, imbibes the world with substance, meaning, and visceral experience. I struggle with mental health issues and have for as long as I can remember. Aware or not, this probably led me to study consciousness in the first place. Through journeying into the numerous spaces opened up by this field of knowledge, I’ve gained tools for steadying my mind.
I’m creating this course so that I have an opportunity to revive, reexamine, and share the mystical and meaningful world of consciousness studies. I need it in my life, to return to the journey within. If you’re here, we’re journeying together.
This course merely begins to scratch the surface of a mountain of wisdom. And, as we will learn, it's my model because no one can help but filter information subjectively, and it comes directly from the knowledge, experiences, and instructors I’ve had. I hope that via additional instruction and practice, you will create your model.
Every single idea we mention has its own book, its own thesis, and its own team of high-level philosophers and researchers. I hope this is the beginning of a long journey. Allow these ideas to sit and swirl within the mind and if something glows and becomes numinous, explore it further on your own.
After completion of this course, you will be on a conversational level about advanced consciousness ideas and philosophical concepts. I also hope that you will have gained a meditational exercise routine that cultivates joy in intuitive dance. From there, dive deeper into any aspects that invoke passion.
Activities within this course are done on your own time with just yourself including keeping a journal, different forms of meditation, and intuitive dance. Guided meditations will accompany each section of the course, along with downloadable intuitive dance sets that accompany course sections.
Intuitive dance is an exercise and meditation practice that cultivates a deep, lasting sense of joy. We will dance until we drop, learn to communicate with the collective unconscious, and connect with a larger sense of Self.
